Iran And Jordan In Stalemate

Iran and Jordan played a goalless draw in their LG Cup encounter in Amman.

Goal

The visitors defeated Iraq 2-0 in the same King Abdullah Stadium just two days previously Iran and while they created more opportunities than their hosts, they failed to capitalize.

Kianoush Rahmati  went closest for Iran midway through the first half but his shot was just over the bar.

Team Melli stepped up a gear in the second period but despite close attempts by Bolton's Andranik Teymourian, Mehdi Rajabzade and Hamid Shafeeie they couldn't find a way past Amer Shafi in the Jordanian goal.

Iran’s Ali Karimi, who was welcomed individually by the stadium announcer, was named in the starting line-up and the Bayern Munich star received a yellow card and Jordan's Shadi Abu Hashhash was sent off with ten minutes remaining.

Iran’s starting lineup was:

Hassan Roudbarian (GK), Mohammad Nosrati, Hadi Shakouri, Hadi Aghili, Amir Azhari, Alireza Vahedi-Nikbakht, Kianoosh Rahmati, Abbas Aghaei, Andranik Teymourian, Ali Karimi, Hamid Shafeeie

After the half Mehdi Rajabzade, Shays Rezaei, Robert Markosi replaced Abbas Aghaei, Amir Azhari, and Hamid Shafiei in that order.
