However, the lack of concentration of Al Jazira keeper Abdul Nasser Abdullah cost them dear when Al Shaab pros Fernandez and Ali Samra scored easily in the 14th and 28th minutes of the first half respectively to give the Commandos a clear 2-0 home advantage by the end of the first period.
Meanwhile, Al Jazira looked in a very good shape right from the beginning of the second half thanks to the efforts of their substitutes Hussain Suhail and Ogbeche and the redeployment of the Ivorian play maker Diaky Ibrahim to operate behind the two spearheads.
By contrast, the less motivated Commandos have apparently ran out of gas and they were forced to retreat to their defensive zone in a move aimed at maintaining their advantage or at least not to receive more than two goals to walk away at least with one point.
But the strong human shield began to break into pieces under the relentless attacks led by the merciless duo, Suhail and Ogbeche, with the helpful assistance of Diaky from behind. In the 29th minute, Ogbeche reduced the deficit to 2-1 before Suhail headed home the equaliser eight minutes later. At this point, Al Jazira keeper Abdul Nasser, simply passed to Al Shaab striker Samra to make 3-2 for the home team.
That was in the 39th minute with only six minutes to go, and again Ogbeche saved the situation with a lovely move to fire home the equaliser two minutes later.
In Dubai, Sharjah earned a well deserved 3-2 win over hosts Al Wasl. Ahmed Khamis put Sharjah ahead in the 18th minute of the first half, Saeed Al Kasmade it 2-0 in the 54th minute and Abdul Aziz Al Anbari added the third goal before Brazilian pro Olivera reduced the deficit to 3-1.
Meanwhile, Newcomers Dibba Al Hosn came from behind twice to hold hosts Bani Yas to 2-2 draw. Abdullah basheer and Adel Habboush scored for the home team and Brazilian striker Marcos equalised for Dibba in the 10th and 22nd minutes of the second half.
