The Iranians are not expected to go further than the group stage after being drawn with Portugal, Mexico and Angola, but Ivankovic is confident of getting a result against Ricardo Lavolpe's side.
Ivankovic was in the United States to watch Mexico's friendly with Paraguay earlier this month and he believes his side can cause an upset.
"From what I saw, we can be hopeful of defeating Mexico," said Ivankovic.
"We do not fear facing Mexico."
The Iranians will prepare for this summer's tournament by facing Croatia at the end of May.
Ivankovic's side will come up against his home nation 12 days before the start of the World Cup.
"The May 28 game against Croatia has been confirmed," he added.
"Talks regarding a game against Bosnia-Herzegovina are still ongoing, if an agreement is reached, the game will be held on June 1."
Meanwhile, Ivankovic is satisfied with the conditions of his side's base for the World Cup in Germany. |
