Week 28 of Iranian Premier League came to an end on Sunday with 4 matches across Iran. Malavan put an end to Shahid Ghandi’s misery after defeating them 2-0 in Anzali’s Takhti Stadium, confirming Ghandi’s relegation back to division 1. It has been a struggle for Ghandi this season as they have only managed 18 goals and 19 points in their 28 league matches.
Rah Ahan safe, Shamoushak on the way down
It looks as though Shamoushak will join Ghandi in division 1 after losing 1-0 to Aboumoslem. The only goal of the game came in the 70th minute for Aboumoslem. Shamoushak need to win their 2 remaining matches to have any chances of avoiding the drop.
Rah Ahan are now safe after a crucial 1-0 win over Saipa. The defeat for Saipa ends their slim hope of the league title. Hadi Asghari’s 75th minute goal was enough to give Rah Ahan all the 3 points of the game.
Perspolis struggle continues
Perspolis continued their mid-table struggle this season after a 2-2 draw with Esteghlal Ahwaz in the Southern island of Kish. Ebrahim Taghipour’s 40th minute goal was cancelled by Rezaei, 10 minutes in to the second half. Perspolis managed to take the lead in the 61st minute with Raphael scoring for the Reds. Ahwaz hit back in the 76th minute through Khalife Asl and the game finished 2-2. The draw keeps Perspolis in 9th place with 37 points.
