Sepahan is the first team to advance to the quarterfinals of the Asian Champions League after a 2 - 0 victory.
Fresh after winning the IPL earlier in the week, Sepahan has defeated its Iranian counterpart, Esteghlal of Tehran in first game of the AFC Champions League knockout stage here on Tuesday.
In a sold-out match held in Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium, Sepahan beat Esteghlal 2-0 in round 16 and advanced to the next stage.
Early goal was scored by Sepahan's Brazilian striker Bruno Cesar to put Sepahan in the lead just eight minutes after the initial whistle to start the game.
Sepahan defender Mohsen Bengar headed the ball into the back of the net in the 37th minute.
Iran’s Persepolis will also face Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia in the same stage in Jeddah’s Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium on Wednesday.
