IranSportsPress.com: Shervin Radjabali-Fardi was born on 17.05.1991 in Berlin. He joined Hertha BSC's youth team nearly 5 years ago, and has been part of the A team since last year. ISP’s Paiam G has conducted an interview with Shervin which you can read here.

Shervin is a German international at youth level and plays as left back, which incidentally is a problem position for Iran.

IranSportsPress.com: Hi Shervin. Can you tell us what made you play football?
Shervin: As a kid, I always watched my brother play football, and after some time I wanted to play too.

IranSportsPress.com: We know you usually play as left back. But can you play in other positions?
Shervin: I prefer to play as left back. However, I can also play as a left sided midfield player.

IranSportsPress.com: You are only 17. How did you manage to force your way in to Hertha’s first team?
Shervin: Last year I trained with the first team of Hertha, and since then I have become part of the A team. I have played three matches in the UEFA Cup this season, and I also play regularly for Hertha’s U-23 team.

IranSportsPress.com: Tell us about your international career.
Shervin: I play for Germany U-18 and U-19.

IranSportsPress.com: On Hertha’s website, it states that one of your biggest successes is reaching the Nike Cup. Can you tell us a bit more about the Nike Cup?
Shervin: I was part of the team which entered the International Nike Cup as the best German Youth Team (U-14). We competed against the best teams in the world, and the standard of the competition was very high.

IranSportsPress.com: Tell us about your family and your school.
Shervin: I live with my parents, and they are fully behind me. School is very important to me because you never know what might happen in life. I might end up being forced to quit football due to an injury, so I would like to finish school, and have a chance to start university if I have to.

IranSportsPress.com: You are half Iranian. Tell us about that.
Shervin: My dad is Iranian. However, I have not had the chance to visit Iran, but I can speak some Farsi.

IranSportsPress.com: How closely do you follow Iranian football?
Shervin: I try to watch Team Melli whenever I get the chance, but I haven’t met any Iranian players in Germany yet.

IranSportsPress.com: Do you think you will ever play for Iran?
Shervin: I havent really thought about that. The important thing for me at this moment in time is to concentrate on my football, and try to do my best for Hertha BSC.

IranSportsPress.com: Your favourite food?
Shervin: Chelokabab.

IranSportsPress.com: … and your favourite team?
Shervin: Manchester United.

IranSportsPress.com: Thank you for giving us some of your time, and we wish you all the very best for the future.
