Bahrain and Qatar played out a goalless draw at the National Stadium in Manama as the Gulf neighbours made a low key start to their 2014 FIFA World Cup, third qualifying round on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Iran scored three second-half goals to defeat Indonesia 3-0 in Tehran to set the early pace in Group E and Carlos Quieroz's charges are next up for Qatar, who host the three-time World Cup qualifiers in Doha on Tuesday.

Bahrain, meanwhile, face the daunting prospect of Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno against an Indonesia side hoping that home field advantage will help them get their World Cup qualifying campaign back on track.
