Former Iran captain Daei critically injured in car accident
Former Iran’s captain and Bayern Munich striker Ali Daei has been critically injured in a car accident while returning to Tehran from Isfahan.
The crash happened on Saturday night when Rah Ahan’s manager Daei was in his personal car with his brother and Rah Ahan’s coach Miach.
Daei was on the way to Tehran after losing an away match at Isfahan in central Iran
He is in a stable condition after he went under surgery for his head injury on Sunday morning, doctors in a hospital in Kashan said.
Daei is currently lying at the intensive care unit. The other two were released from the hospital.
The cause of the accident was violating speed limit, police said.
A number of Daei’s fans gathered outside the hospital.
The 42-year-old is a legendary Iranian footballer that has been entitled as World's top goal scorer of all time. He scored 109 goals in 149 international games.
