Hansa Punish Poor Iran
TEHRAN- (IranSportsPress.com): Iran started their preparations for 2010 World Cup Qualifiers with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to German Bundesliga side Hansa Rostock on Saturday.

Only 900 fans turned up to watch a second string Iran team line up against Hansa Rostock in the Azadi Stadium. Iran, who are still without a head coach, started brightly, and could have scored in the opening 20 minutes but Jamshidian wasted several good chances.
Hansa took control of the game at the mid point of the first half and had a goal ruled out due to an offside decision, although the TV replays didn’t look conclusive.
Hansa took the lead in the 35th minute. A corner was punched by Iran goal keeper, Rahmati, but the ball fell nicely for Rathgeb who scored with a low shot from 25 yards out. The half time score was 0-1 to Hansa Rostock.
The two teams made several changes at half time, and this clearly affected the quality of the game. Cetyovic sealed the game for Hansa in the 64th minute, with a clever finish. Iran had nothing to offer in the final 30 minutes, and the players looked tiered and out of their depth against the team in the 15th place in the Bundesliga.
The game was marred with several bad challenges by Iran players in the final 30 minutes, resulting in 4 yellow cards for Iran players. Full time score was 0-2 to Hansa Rostock.
Iran will play their next friendly game on Wednesday against Qatar in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
