Al Shabab failed to clinch a win over strugglers Emirates after they drew 2-2 on Saturday evening.
The league leaders have recently been criticised for their lackluster displays in the UAE League. And, Al Shabab continued in similar fashion as they conceded their two-goal lead to secure only a point against Emirates. Al Shabab started brightly after midfielder Waleed Abbas and Iranian forward Javad Kazemian fired their side ahead after 31 minutes.
However, defender Abdullah Darwish was sent off before half time. Emirates capitalised on their numerical advantage as they scored through Iran international Rasoul Khatibi in the 67th minute. Reza Enayati then scored a late injury time goal to help Emirates draw level and clinch a valuable point against Al Shabab.
In the other match played, Al Sharjah beat Hatta 2-1 with goals from Anderson Barbosa and Salem Saif. Hatta pulled a goal back through their French import Hassan Ahamada.
