Javad Nekounam has been cleared to play competitive football by Osasuna medical staff, and is now in contention for a return to football this weekend against Deportivo La Coruña, after a 7 month injury layoff.
Osasuna
The club’s medical staff announced the great news last Week when 239 days and 33 official games later they declared Iranian midfielder Javad Nekounam fit to play again for CA Osasuna.
The player shared his happiness with the media after hearing the long expected news. “Thanks everyone for your support. I am delighted to be back and if the coach wants me to play again I am ready. I couldn’t sleep last night thinking about this moment. It has been quite a tough period, but thanks to everybody’s support now I’m smiling again. I get goose bumps thinking about this day, and I want to play well again to pay back everyone who helped me: supporters, the media, the club and also my family. I have a surprise for all of you on the day of my return.”
Last term’s best Iranian player of the year picked up a serious injury past August when he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a pre-season friendly match against Villarreal CF. After a long seven-month road to recovery Javad Nekounam is finally available to help his team-mates at the Spanish Liga, with six games remaining before the end of the current season.
