Oman moved ahead after 11 minutes as Syria defender Raafat Mohamed put into his own net.

Chabo missed a chance to equalise from the spot with a penalty but redeemed himself by pulling Syria level after 55 minutes.

The striker struck again 15 minutes from time to give Kwid a winning start.

Both nations are preparing for a series of 2010 World Cup qualifiers in June.
