UAE team to train in Switzerland

DUBAI -The UAE senior football national team will start their external training camp in Switzerland from August 3 to 18 before they head for France for a week-long training camp during which they will play a warm-up game against Algeria on August 20.

UAE will take on North Korea and South Korea in Abu Dhabi on September 6 and 10 respectively in the opener of their 2010 Fifa World Cup qualifier. Then, they will travel to Seoul and Pyongyang in the home and away format of the competition.

They will also travel to Teheran and Riyadh to take on Saudi Arabia and Iran and play the return matches at home early next year. Meanwhile, Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi, chairman of the UAE Football Association (Uaefa) will head the five-member Legal Committee, the legal body responsible for the settlement of any dispute that may arise in connection with the game. The other members include deputy chairman Saeed Abdul Ghaffar, Habib Mohammed Abdullah, Yousuf Mohammed Abdullah and the legal advisor of the Uaefa.

In the meantime, Younis Haji Khouri will be in-charge of the Finance Committee assisted by Saleem Suroor Al Shamsi, Abdul Karim Al Zarouni, Mohammed Sanad Al Qubaisim Saif Al Zaabi and the internal auditor Mohammed Al Daroubi. UAEfa’s board member Mohammed Mattar Ghurab was named chairman of the Competitions Committee.

The other members are: Obaid Saeed Al Shamsi, Saeed Abdullah, Saeed Mubarak, Ahmed Al Shehhi and Hamza Abbas. A special committee responsible for the technical affairs and development has been set up under the chairmanship of Khaled Abdullah bin Faris.

Former international referee Saeed Abdullah Ebrahim will head the Referees Committee. The six-member Marketing Committee will be led by Abdul Wahab Ahmed Al Ahmed. The players’ status and transfer has been formed under the presidency of Saleem Suroor Al Shamsi. Mohammed Mattar Ghurab will also head the Women’s Football Committee, Obaid Al Shamsi is in-charge of the Indoor Hall Football Committee and Rashid Ali Hamdi will be the chairman of the Beach Soccer Committee. A special committee has been set up to support the amateur clubs and develop the necessary facilities and infrastructures for them.
