End of the Road for Mahdavikia?

FRANKFURT- (IranSportsPress.com): Mehdi Mahdavikia is reported to be out of favour among Eintracht Frankfurt club officials as 22 years old newly signed Markus Steinhöfer looks to have reserved his spot at the team's right back position in 2008-2009 season for Eintracht Frankfurt.

According to Kicker magazine, Mehdi Mahdavikia and Marcel Heller are reported to be among Eintracht Frankfurt's released players' list prior to Summer Transfer deadline.

Following Markus Steinhöfer's solid debut display with two assists for Eintracht Frankfurt in their 3-0 DFB Cup win against SC Pfullendorf, the newly signed 22 years old midfielder is set to have reserved his permanent spot at Eintracht Frankfurt's line-up in upcoming 2008-2009 Bundesliga season. Markus Steinhöfer is advantaged to play both offensively and defensively in the right back making the life even harder for Mehdi Mahdavikia to compete for starting lineup, hence Friedhelm Funkel pondering to cut back on his underperforming squad players.

In a statement, Eintracht Frankfurt Chief Heribert Bruchhagen confirmed Funkel's large list and states Marcel Heller's several offers by FC Cologne, Mainz 05 and the FC Kaiserslautern. Mehdi Mahdavikia who is under contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until 2010 is reported to have few offers on the table.

Eintracht Frankfurt is set to host La Liga defending champions, Real Madrid at Frankfurt on Tuesday to prepare for their Bundesliga Season debut against Hertha on Sunday.
