Bahrain Come From Behind To Shock UAE in friendly

Bahrain shocked UAE with a come-from-behind 3-2 win in Abu Dhabi at the weekend as both teams step up preparations for the start of the final round of qualification for the 2010 World Cup next week.

The visitors took the lead in the tenth minute thanks to a volleyed goal from defender Sayed Adnan Mohammed.

It was a short-lived advantage as UAE were back on level terms midway through the first half as Ismail Matar scored from the spot.

UAE then took the lead six minutes after the restart as Mohammed al Shehhi gave his team the lead by heading home a free-kick from Subait Khater.

Sayed Andan headed his second from a corrner after 75 minutes to draw Bahrain level. But more was to come from Milan Macala’s men who were missing six first-team regulars due to club commitments.

With 11 minutes remaining, UAE keeper Ismail Rabea fumbled a pass from Abdulla Ismail leaving Abdulla Dhakil to notch the winner.

UAE host North Korea next week in the opening match of Group B while Bahrain kick off Group A by facing Japan in Manama.
