"Karimi is in Qatar and we will hold talks with him tonight," said Dariush Mostafavi after a board meeting also attended by Persepolis coach Afhsin Qotbi and his assistants.
Karimi, who played for Persepolis between 1998 and 2001, is currently playing for Qatar's al-Sailiyah.
Mostafavi said Persepolis would have to pay al-Sailiyah about $310,000 in order to release Karimi from the Qatari club's contract.
Karimi, who will return to Iran in the next few days, is expected to sign a one-year contract with Persepolis.
