FC Seoul midfielder Lee Chung-yong netted his first international goal early in the first half to help his side secure the victory.

Huh Jung-moo's side is drawn with Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and DPR Korea in Group B of the final qualifying round, and will start its quest for a seventh straight World Cup appearance against DPR Korea in Shanghai, China, on September 10.

The Koreans dominated the proceedings since the beginning and could have opened the scoring in the second minute but Cho Jae-jin’s shot was cleared by a defender from the goalline.

Three minutes later, West Bromwich Albion winger Kim Do-heon lofted a free kick from the right side and Lee got enough space to head it home.

Koreans continued to attack but were unlucky not to have increased the lead. Cho's header on Kim's corner sailed inches wide of the post in the 10th minute and defender Kim Dong-jin's mid-range shot was slightly wide of the mark one minute later.
