Ziganda has paid the price for Osasuna's failure to win any of their opening six games of the season.
Osasuna have lost only two of those games, but the club have decided to act by axing Ziganda.
Ziganda had been in charge of Osasuna for the last two years and despite leading them to the semi-finals of the Uefa Cup in 2007 they only managed to survive relgation by one point last season.
"Jose Angel Ziganda will today end his collaboration with Club Atletico Osasuna. The club will name a successor in the next few hours," a club statement said.
After six league matches - which includes four draws and two defeats - Osasuna sit in 16th place with just four points.
Ziganda is the second manager in La Primera Liga to be sacked this season following the departure of Manolo Zambrano's at Recreativo Huelva earlier this month.
