UAE have recalled Al Ahli striker Faisal Khalil to the national team for their
remaining two World Cup qualifiers as well as a friendly against Germany.
After one point from six matches, the 2007 Gulf Cup winners are already
out of the running for South Africa but still have to host Group B leaders
South Korea and then travel to Iran.
Dominique Bathaney has left out
Hamdan al Kamali, Sultan Saleh, Abdullah Malallah, Mohammed Ibrahim, Saif
Mohammed and Faisal’s younger brother, Ahmed, who has just returned to action
from injury.
Captain Abdulraheem Jumaa is injured.
Joining the
elder Khalil back in the fold is Al Jazira’s Ahmed ‘Dada’ Mubarak and Al Nasr’s
Amer Mubarak.
UAE commence training on May 27 and then warm-up with a
high-profile match against Germany.
South Korea are in Dubai for the
June 6 game before the relatively short trip to Tehran four days later.
