Singapore suffer big defeat in preparatory friendly
SINGAPORE: Singapore suffered a crushing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Oman on Thursday as the South East Asian side prepare for their crucial AFC Asian Cup 2011 qualifier against Iran on January 6.

The two sides had earlier played a goalless draw on Monday.
But Radojko Avramovic’s men were down 3-0 in the first half with the
visiting Omanis opening the scoring through Fauzi Basheer in the 15th
minute. Just five minutes later Oman fired one more, courtesy of Yaqoob
AbdullKareem, before Hussain Ali made it 3-0 in the 34th minute.
Osama Hadid put the final nail in their coffin with his 69th minute
strike. Indra Sahdan Daud pulled one back for the Singaporeans in the
76th minute.
In the AFC Asian Cup 2011 qualifying, Singapore are second in Group
E with six points from four matches, one point behind pacesetters Iran
and just ahead of Thailand (five points) and Jordan (four).
