Mahdavikia wins with Frankfurt in his first official game

Frankfurt won in the first round of the German Cup with 4-1 away to Union Berlin and Mehdi played as an offensive rightwing in Frankfurt's 4-2-3-1 system for 90 minutes. He had an overall solid game and nicely assisted the 2-1 goal of Alexander Meier. Meier scored 3 goals himself and assisted the 4th one but coach Funkel was overall satisfied with the team. Unfortunately, Mehdi was the only Iranian playing fulltime in the Cup, as neither Vahid Hashemian nor Amir Shapourzadeh got playing time, while Ashkan Dejagah played for 45 minutes in Wolfsburgs 4-0 away win against Wuerzburg.
