Exclusive Interview - Navid Dayyani Continues to Impress

Dayyani has recently played a big role in AGF and has a promising future with the team.He was recently part of the starting eleven against Spanish giants FC Barcelona.His inclusion in the team was interesting as he was featured the day before in the Danish Super League.

How is your current situation after the summer holidays?

I have quit the Business College I was attending so I can concentrate on my Football career.I have also signed a two year professional contract with AGF that started July 1, 2005.

Has the Danish Super league started?

Yes, the league started on July 20, 2005.We have played three of thirty-three matches already.

Have you played in any of these matches?

Yes, I have played in each of the three matches.

How was it?

The games were pretty tough, they made me think fast and stay concentrated.The pressure was high in the matches but I can only become a better player after playing in these games.

How does it feel now that you have become a professional football player?

I have always dreamed of becoming a football player from the time I was very young.It is great because I can concentrate only on football and become better.The negative side of signing a professional contract is that I have dropped my school.

AGF played against FC Barcelona as their summer preparations, please tell us more about the game?

The whole stadium was full, something that has not happened in recent time for our team.We had over 20,000 spectators at the match.Before the game started there were many fireworks and different activities which was a big experience for me.I played the whole game against Barcelona’s best players.The only player absent was Ronaldinho.Although we lost the game 0-4 (0-1) we played very well in the first half and almost scored.In the second half our team was tired and we lost.

Which players did you have to take care of?

I had to cover Iniesta first half and Xavi in the second.It was pretty card to cover Xavi as he is a great player.

Which position did you play?

In the first half I played right defense and in the second I played in the middle of the midfield.

Have you heard from the Danish national team?

I have been invited for the U19 Danish national team which will begin in August.We will have three matches to play so that we can qualify for the European Championships.

Have you heard from the Iranian Football Federation?

No, I have not.
