Daei has been in charge of Saipa for two years and was appointed to the national team job last weekend.
The goalscoring legend told reporters in Iran that he would perform both roles until Saipa’s continental campaign is over.
“Things will change after Saipa’s matches in the ACL and after that I will concentrate only on Team Melli,” said Daei.
Daei’s first competitive game as Iran boss comes against Kuwait on March 26 in the qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.
“We (Iran) have crucial World Cup qualifying match against Kuwait which will be my first experience as national team coach," Daei added.
“Seven Kuwait players are with AFC Champions League qualifiers Al Kuwait, who fortunately are Saipa’s first opponents in the ACL so it will be a good chance for me to monitor them beforehand.” |
