The “group of death” cliché that crops up at every tournament falls on Group A, where Tournament hosts, Saudi Arabia, clash with giant Japan and Iranian team for top two spots along with Yemen.

Sixteen teams were divided on Sunday into four groups of four teams each for the October 31-November 14 competition to be held at the two venues of Al Khobar and Dammam.

Defending champions DPR Korea are top-seeded, followed by the team they beat to clinch the title in India two years back, Japan.

The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarter-finals while the four semi-finalists will get to represent Asia at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt next year.
