Meydavoudi on target as Al Wasl deny Al Ahli top spot

DUBAI – ACL Group B basement-dwellers and reigning UAE champions Al Wasl came from two goals down to draw 3-3 with Al Ahli on Friday, preventing the President’s Cup winners going top of the UAE league standings.

AFC

Milad Meydavoudi broke the deadlock the 17th minute before Faisal Khalil added to the Iranian forward’s opener just three minutes later.

Former Qatar international Mohammed Salem Al Enazi reduced the deficit with a minute of the first-half remaining before Brazilian midfielder Rogerinho levelled the match in the 64th minute.

Al Ahli regained their lead three minutes later when Faisal Khalil bagged his second of the night but Al Wasl midfielder Maher Jassim ensured a share of the spoils with the equaliser eight minutes from time.

Al Wasl are next in action on Wednesday when the 2006/07 UAE league and cup winners looked to keep alive their slim hopes of reaching the knockout stage of this year’s AFC Champions League when they take on Iraqi outfit Al Quwa Al Jawiya in Kuwait.
