Iranian u-16 football team clinched the championship of the 8-a-side football tournament here on Friday.

Iran beat Thailand 3-0 in the final game and won the title. Sadegh Pourmohammad-Dust gave Iran a lead and Ali Heidari and Sadegh Moradi scored the other goals for coach Ali Dusti’s side.
The team had already defeated Jordan and China in the group stage. Iran won over Sakhay of Russia 6-5 on penalty shoot-out in the semi-final match.
Iran is preparing for the AFC U-16 Championship to be held in Uzbekistan in October.
Iran has been drawn with Uzbekistan (host), Bahrain and Singapore in Group A of this competition.
