Hashemian concerned about future of Iran football

Bochum Iranian striker Vahid Hashemian is worried about the future of Iran’s football.

Hashemian, who quit playing for the national team after Iran failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup, believes that Iran’s football does not have a bright future.

“Iran’s football suffers from mismanagement. At the same time, most Iranian players are engaged in peripheral issues, not football. I believe such problems will hurt the country’s football,” Hashemian said. Meanwhile, he stated, “My foot injury kept me out of action for six weeks. I was also absent one week for back injury. In my opinion, scoring two goals and providing two assistants is a good performance in the current season.”

The 32-year-old player has been mostly out of action in the current season.

“I think Bochum will finish 12th to 15th in Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen will most likely win the title. However, Bayern Munich is an unpredictable team and they also have the ability to claim the championship,” the former Bayern Munich player added.
