Tehran’s popular football team Esteghlal was beaten by Peykan in the 29th week of the Iran’s Professional League (IPL) here at the Azadi Stadium.

Esteghlal who qualified for the League Cup semi-final last week, lost 2-1 to Peykan before the crowd of 15,000 fans.
Esteghlal’s Bijan Kushki was sent off by referee Khodadad Afsharian for a foul on Morteza Aziz Mohammadi of Peykan.
Ali Mansurian gave the 10-man hosts the lead in the 36th minute.
Esteghlal failed to keep the result and conceded a goal in the 76th minute when Peykan’s Mohammad Reza Tahmasbi shot passed Vahid Taleblu, the Blues’ keeper.
Peykan doubled the score by Amir Hossein Sadeghi’s own goal in the 86th minute.
Esteghlal is in 9th place with 38 points as Peykan moved up to 13th with 36 points.
