According to Perspolis officials, Ghotbi met up with the representatives of the club in Dubai on Thursday, and signed a two year deal with the Iranian champions.
The news will come as a shock to many, after Ghotbi, who won the Iranian title with Perspolis last season, decided against renewing his contract at the end of the season. However, Perspolis has undergone major changes since the end of the season, with the managing director of the club, Habib Kashani leaving the club. Hamid Estiti, who was Ghotbi's number two has also left the club.
There has been no news on who will become Ghotbi's assistant, and Ghotbi is expected to announce his assistants when he returns to Iran on Friday.
