The Eighth week of IPL games were resumed on Thursday with the most noticeable fixture being Perspolis's clash against Pegah Gilan while marking Iranian wizard, Ali Karimi's first official game for the Reds since signing with defending Champions. The match kicked-off before more than 95,000 spectators at Azadi stadium.
Pegah Gilan started off the game by gaining possession and threatened Perspolis' net several times in large due to Perspolis defenders' mistakes. In the second interval, Tore was brought down in penalty box in minute 67 for the referee to award Perspolis a penalty kick.
The penalty shot however was not as easily executed when Karim Bagheri's attempt went wide, but the referee called for the repeat of penalty shot as Pegah Gilan goalkeeper moved forward during the penalty shot attempt. Perspolis dilemma continued as Karim Bagheri's second attempt hit the post and scoreline remained on the brink of 1-0.
Perspolis continued their momentum and missed an excellent chance when Petrovic's header hit the post, but in minute 79 Ebrahim Tore precisely netted Perspolis' second goal through a header thanks to Petrovic's corner kick. With this result Perspolis jumped to third spot in IPL standing ahead of the sensational Tehran derby fixture against Esteghlal on October 3rd.
