Esteghlal boost as Blues edge past Rah Ahan

The Eighth week of IPL games were resumed on finalized on Saturday with Esteghlal hosting Rah Ahan before 40,000 spectators in Azadi Stadium only six days prior to the most anticipated Tehran derby against Perspolis.
 
Rah Ahan edged Esteghlal early in the game in minute 29 thanks to Mojtaba Zareh’s strike, but Rah Ahan’s advantage did not last long as Esteghlal bounced back 4 minute later when Heidari’s precise cross reached Piruz Ghorbani to head the ball in.

Seven minutes to the interval, Arash Borhani netted the match winner in a pass by Kazemi. Despite Rah Ahan’s desperate attacks to equalize the match, the scoreline remained the same to boost Esteghlal ranking to 6th spot in IPL table prior to the sensational derby on October 3rd. 

At the end of eighth week of Iran Persian Gulf games, Bargh Shiraz remains the league leader with 14 points followed by Peykan Ghazvin and Perspolis.
