Esteghlal achieves tough victory against Abu Moslem

In the match held at the Azadi Stadium, Estehghlal defeated Abu Moslem 3-1 and moved up to third place of the Iran Professional League (IPL) standings table.

Abu Moslem’s Abdou Moumouni inadvertently kicked the ball into his own goal three minutes into the match.

The visiting team equalized the match in the 68th minute when Javad Zayghami headed the ball into Esteghlal’s goal.

Two late goals from Esteghlal strikers sealed a victory for them prior to the Tehran derby against Persepolis on Wednesday.

Majidi gave Esteghlal a lead in the 79th minute, and substituted player Arash Borhani scored Esteghlal’s third goal in the injury time.

Esteghlal leapfrogged to third place of the IPL with 40 points, behind Sepahan with 49 points with one game in hand, and Zob Ahan with 45 points.
