Argentina beats Iran volleyball team

The Iranian national volleyball team has been defeated by Argentina in a qualifying tournament in Tokyo for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Argentina beat Iran 27-25, 25-19, and 25-9 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Wednesday.

The Iranian squad lost its first and second matches to Algeria and Japan respectively but defeated Thailand 3-1 on Tuesday.

Argentina has now seven points while the Iranian team has five points.

The winner of the tournament and the best-placed Asian team will qualify for the Olympics.
