The Iranian swimmer, Mohammad Alirezaei, gains the first Olympic berth in swimming for his country at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The Iranian swimmer qualified for the Games after he clocked a time of 1.03.03 minutes in the 100-meter breaststroke event in Croatia on Thursday. This time improved his personal best by 0.89 seconds.
The 22-year-old Iranian will compete with his rival in the final round of the event on Thursday afternoon.
Another Iranian swimmer, Mohammad Bidarian, will face his competitors on the same day.
According to the International Swimming Federation, the required time to qualify for the Olympic Games is 1.03.72.
