In other matches the same day, China won Hong Kong 115-61, Jordan defeated Saudi Arabia 110-83, South Korea gained a 65-62 victory over Kazakhstan and India lost 96-71 to Japan.
China, Japan, Hong Kong and India will compete in Group A. Group B will see South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan and Syria.
Taiwan, Philippines, the UAE and Lebanon are in Group C and host Iran will face Malaysia, Jordan and Uzbekistan in Group D.
Some 16 teams have taken part in the 20th Edition of the FIBA Asia Junior Championship which runs from August 28 through September 5.
