Mohammadreza Hajyusefzadeh announced his resignation as coach of the national team on Saturday. He served in the position more than 15 years.
Abdoljalil Razavi, Iran’s judo federation president, appointed Miresmaeili as the new coach.
Miresmaeili won the gold medal in two World Judo Championships, the first one in 2001 in Munich, Germany, and the second in 2003 in Osaka, Japan.
Miresmaeili also won bronze medals in the 2005 World Judo Championships in Cairo, Egypt, and the 2007 World Judo Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
