Iran tied 3-3 with two-time world champion Spain on Wednesday.
The Asian champion Iran will also play Uruguay on October 7.
The competitions are played in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia. The teams are divided into four groups of five, with the top two advancing to the next stage.
Iran is in Group D along with Spain, the Czech Republic, Uruguay and Libya.
