Hamid Suriyan wins Iran's first gold for Iran at the 2012 London Olympics
Suriyan overcomes the 2008 Beijing game gold medalist Rovshan Bayramov at the 55KG weight division of Greco Roman competition to win gold and become the first Iranian since Alireza Dabir at the 2000 Olympics games to win gold in the sport of wresting. Suriyan ends the medal drought for the sport of Greco Roman wrestling since he is the first gold medalist in 40 years of olympic competition.
Suriyan shut out his opponent Rovshan Bayramov by the score of 2-0 to win gold. Wrestlers from Hungry and Russia share bronze at this weight devision.
